BBEdit: Text editor made by Bare Bones Software, excellent for programming and web authoring (this site is maintained using BBEdit).
Perl info: If you want to do some really powerful text munging, take a look at Perl. MacPerl can be interfaced with Mailsmith/BBEdit using AppleScript. This site contains a lot of info about Perl in general
